Health: Caring for the Body God Designed
Health isn’t just about green smoothies, counting steps, or convincing yourself that “stretching” counts as exercise (it totally does). It’s about honoring the body God handcrafted for you—inside, outside, and in all the ways we try (and sometimes fail) to take care of it.
And trust me, I’ve had my share of health challenges over the years. They’ve humbled me, strengthened me, and taught me to pay attention to what my body is saying instead of shushing it with busy schedules. Thankfully, I’m married to an amazing chiropractor who could probably talk about inflammation, posture, and the nervous system in his sleep. Between his expertise and my love for all things natural, we’re the perfect blend of crunchy and reasonable—a freezer full of grassfed beef, skip the seed oils and food dyes, supplements on the counter, diffuser going, and also very pro-“please pass the gluten-free brownies.”
Scripture reminds us,“Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit… therefore honor God with your bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). That doesn’t mean we need to run marathons or swear off dessert forever—it means treating our bodies with the same care and gratitude we’d give anything God entrusted to us. We’re stewards of this incredible creation, even if our knees crack like glow sticks every time we stand up.
The Bible also points us toward balance. “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). That covers everything from nutritious meals to the occasional comfort snack, from peaceful rest to strengthening our bodies for the work He’s called us to do.
Honoring God with our health means listening to His wisdom, being gentle with ourselves, nourishing what He’s given, and remembering that our strength—physical and spiritual—ultimately comes from Him. So here’s to walking with Jesus toward wellness, one healthy choice (and one honest laugh) at a time.
