Heart & Home: Making Space for Joy, Jesus, and the Occasional Laundry Avalanche

Homemaking isn’t just dusting shelves, lighting candles, or pretending the basket of unfolded laundry is part of the décor (we’ve all done it). It’s the everyday ministry of creating a space where our families—and our own hearts—can breathe, grow, and meet with Jesus. Whether you work outside the home, work inside the home, or feel like you work everywhere all at once, homemaking is for every woman, every season, every stage.

God cares deeply about our homes because He cares deeply about us. Scripture reminds us, “She looks well to the ways of her household” (Proverbs 31:27), not because perfection is required, but because love lived out in the small things matters. When we wipe sticky counters, cook meals (or order takeout—no guilt), and turn chaos into cozy corners, we’re practicing servanthood, stewardship, and hospitality in real-time.

Homemaking becomes holy when we see it through His eyes. It’s not about having matching throw pillows or a color-coded pantry (though that does feel like a tiny miracle). It’s about cultivating peace, joy, and faith in the place where life actually happens—between school drop-offs, work deadlines, burnt toast, and bedtime prayers. “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31) applies to scrubbing sinks just as much as singing worship.

God uses our homes as a little training ground for love—welcoming guests, nurturing our families, healing after hard days, laughing around the dinner table, and building rhythms that point us back to Him. Whether your home is spotless or “lived-in” (a very polite word for messy), Jesus delights in walking through every room with you.
